Rose Quartz' Wand I

||WAND OF THE BIGHEARTED L E A D E R

Here’s my fourth wooden wand, hand turned on a turning lathe and crafted from an ash broomstick. 

With a total of 39.6 centimeters (about 15.6 inches), this wand is the longest wand of my collection, and the only one that has been painted and based on (the weapon of) a cartoon character.

It is completely based on the pommel of the sword of Rose Quartz, mother of the main character in the hit cartoon Steven Universe. The sword is first seen in “Lion 2: Straight to Video” and since I’m also a huge fan of Harry Potter, I thought it’d be nice to make a wand that Rose would wield in the wizarding world.

I had hoped to get the colors right... I held the reference pictures next to this darn thing the entire time while painting this, but now the colors seem completely off.... Oh well. 

This wand was probably the wand that has given me the most stress, but luckily, my mentor Ken has helped me through it all, as usual and despite some flaws, I’m still kind of proud of it. We’ve used a whitewash technique, where we would apply the paint on the wood, and wash the excess off so only the paint that has thoroughly seeped in the wood would remain. that way you could still see the wonderful pattern of the wood (and not the ugly paintbrush strokes).
